Music of silence

It’s not my term, it was acutally invented by one of the most recognized journalists at Polish radio. There will be a lot of the “music of silence” these next couple of days on the radio and I’m not complaining, it’s nice when, for a change, not everything is shouting on you with exclamations and shimmering lights.

There are two particular films – and even more so soundtracks from them – which I particularly love coming back to during Holy Week. No, I’m not quite religious, but I just think this two pictures and the music are absolutely extraordinary…

Jesus Christ Superstar – the legendary 1973 film version of Andres Lloyd Webber’s opera.

Last temptation of Christ – Peter Gabriel’s soundtrack is simply timeless and oh, David Bowie as Pontius Pilate, always knocks me off my feet.

Since the best part of music starts only at 5:40, here it is in its entirety.
