Green Tree

Jody Xiong in conjunction with the China Environmental Protection Foundation created this interesting project to demonstrate the benefits of walking versus driving. Big white canvases with a naked tree were placed across 132 crosswalks in 15 Chinese cities. When pedestrians go through the street, the trees begin to grow again leaving their green footprints all over the canvas. Great idea artistically and definitely points out the problem of too much pollution, too many cars, traffic jams – walking rules!
It is also a great idea for European Day Without Car – it was celebrated just a few days ago, on Septermber 22nd.

Fantastic idea/project. I wonder if this would ever work in the United States.

My thoughts exactly – would it ever work here in Poland. Knowing my nation, most of them would complain (in a rather explicit way) about having their shoes dirty with paint…
