Sculpture from nature

Bored and tired of traditional sculptures? Here, meet an artist who literally draws from nature to create her works. Sculptor Anna Gillespie, who lives and works in Bath, England, infuses her figurative sculptures with elements collected from nature including numerous acorn caps or beechnut casings. She does sometimes work with bronze and stone, but uses these materials to recreate some of the same environmental elements by hand, a process I imagine is even more meticulous than harvesting and using individual seeds themselves. Her works most of the times represent human figures, but especially in the outdoor locations – like the one pictured in a forest here – they are a bit disturbing.
